I have just heard the outcome of a fairly long running dispute between a family firm and the LSC over what constitutes the point from which the 3 month billing countdown begins. I’ll spare you the detail however I gave a bit of informal advice and my view was “date of last work”. The LSC sought to rely upon a section of the Civil Bills Assessment Manual which said date of final hearing. This was set to go forward for a point of principle however they have had second thoughts and paid the firm on the basis of mine and their shared opinion.
