We got as close as having a fistful of tickets and only a couple of days to go before Lyle Lovett cancelled his “Large Band” gig at Newcastle City Hall. Not rescheduled, we just got our money back.
Some years later he is back in the UK, this time with his acoustic band – we are nervous about our planned Sunday night out at the Sage.
I probably own more of his records than I do of any other artist and he clearly continues to be the greatest Country songwriter of all time. I also think I prefer the acoustic side of his work such as this.
