Friday Song of the Year

Yes, scarily, it is that time again and what a year for music. It is almost impossible to know where to start. I think gig of the year must go to The Barr Brothers – if for no other reason than putting a full concert sized harp on stage in the little social club in Middlesbrough where we watch most of our music. I’ve seen I Am Kloot and Stornoway three time each in the last 12 months and they we both great on each occasion. I think Edwyn Collins on Monday night might give them all a run for their money however.

It is harder still to nail down an album of the year – all of the above are in with a shout along with a large group of challengers probably headed by John Grant and
The Manics.

It is to the latter I go however for my favourite of our Friday offerings particularly as it is a live acoustic version which is loads better than the album track.
