In short the firm committed breaches of the Solicitors Account Rules by not transferring disbursements from (then) LSC payments, into client account within 14-days. The money stayed in office account given the firm’s overdraft which was exacerbated by £170K in unpaid fees from the Commission – something the SDT judgment recognises. The partners ended up with heavy fines and reprimands nonetheless.
