Succeeding at Peer Reveiw

Peer Review has proved a constant and very live presence in our world since it was “reinvented” a few years ago. By way of a snapshot here are the issues we have been dealing with this week

  • News of a predicted Category 2 result from a longstanding client firm
  • Preparation of course notes for an “improve your score” webinar next week
  • Assistance with appeals against 2 termination notices following (wrongly) confirmed Category 4 scores
  • Assistance on a wrongly made sample request issued to a previous successful appellant

This is not entirely representative, the termination matters are not routine for instance, but shows this is a very active and perhaps unappreciated process. The bulk of what we do however is write representations on Category 4/5 fail results – currently with a 65% success rate.

We usually decline to review samples in the 14-days before submission largely because it is too late, and wrong, to make any significant changes. In the course of reviewing the slides for the webinar it struck us that we might want to outline a very successful “product” we last offered over a decade ago – this involves

  • An initial assessment of a sample of files
  • Detailed report on likely “areas of concern” and a development plan covering areas of remedial action and improvement
  • Tailored webinar to launch the development plan
  • Reassessment of a second sample of files 6-9 months later

This is based on our considerable practical experience of the PR process.
