It is 20 years since I worked in the NfP Advice Sector and have only had limited involvement in the meantime. In that time it “embraced” Legal Aid and became an essential element of the Community Legal Service. I remember the early contention this created and the resistance to ‘transformation of service delivery’ this implied. Nonetheless agencies, predominantly CABx eventually, and with varying degrees of enthusiasm, joined in. With a similar degree of variegation LASPO will reverse this process albeit wit no room for discussion and at greater speed.
And now we have this from The Big Lottery Fund and Cabinet Office. Which, at least superficially, looks like a “parachute” fund reliant upon further commitment from Bureaux to ‘transformation of service delivery’. Cant decide if this is Orwellian or Kafkaesque?
