Fiction: The Fat Cat Legal Aid Lawyer
Fact: The bedrock of the Criminal Justice system is the Duty Solicitor. They do the large majority of criminal cases, especially in the Police Station and Magistrates Court.
Last month I did a quick survey of DS salaries
They fall in a range between £20 – 40K roughly equivalent to a reasonably experienced Classroom teacher or a Ward sister.
Now “Fat Cat Teacher” or “Fat Cat Nurse” are not phrases you hear that often.
