Another “first day back” at my desk which is covered with the usual array of audit and appeal results which have come in over the last 10 days.
I was going to say “nothing ever changes” however it is a bit of a shock to return to a criminal legal aid “strike”. From my early check of the Gazette and social media and the T&A it also appears to be well supported. The MoJ’s assessment of its impact, “negligible”, is as predictable as their “most expensive system in the world” response to any other legal aid question.
In response to the deployment of the PDS as “strikebreakers” – I would say “moving deckchairs on the titanic”.
